oho no. I think its going to happen -- I think that I am going to be forced to Go Camping.

The message was sent today.

In order to D her a proper welcome into her third decade, we are planning an overnight camping trip followed by a day of hiking and/or touring around in Harper's Ferry.

Anyone interested in Camping either the night of Saturday November 6th or Friday night, November 12th at the KOA in Harpers Ferry for a night of sitting around the fire, eating smores, and telling scary stories. The next day, we plan to hike up to the Old Civil War Fort and enjoy West Virginia.

I"m pushing for the 6th, as we'll be in CT for a wedding. The last big group camping trip was during our honeymoon, so that was an easy out, too.

Now, I don't want to diss hiking. My dream vacation is doing inn-to-inn hiking in Switzerland.

'I think its going to happen -- I think that I am going to be forced to Go Camping'

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NOOOOOOOOOOOO! (Can you guess I'm not the camping type?)

"Roughing it" to me is no friggin' room service!

The only time I slept under the stars was while living in England and passing out at Glastonbury, a big Woodstock-yet-not-as-hippy music festival. And emphasis on Passing Out. (plus, we were in the middle of a nice grassy field near the 'folk' tent, not in the middle of Tent City)

As for 'roughing it', i can handle the small-inn with-bathroom-in-the hall, but that's about as low as I go. And that Inn had better been in Europe...

I've been to Glastonbury! Even climbed up the tor when I was there (oh, so many years ago). A very new age vibe there...I've never inhaled more pachooli in my life (except at a Dead concert)!

I know I'd have more fun that I think I would, but I know that a few of the people that will go just get under my skin. I also hate the idea of having to buy a bunch of stuff that I'll likely never use again, and if not, do you really want to borrow a sleeping bag from someone?

Good luck. I'd be scared too! I'm more of a hike in the woods by day, go sleep at the Four Seasons by night kind of person. :P

I like being outdoors but I'm not sure how I'd deal with sleeping under the stars. Andrew keeps telling me that we need to go camping sometime so who knows if and when I'll be convinced to go.

Really? I'd have thought that you guys were big campers! I've decided, after thinking about this for the past few days, that its not so much the actual camping that annoys me, its the "the purpose of our trip is to camp" rather than a long canoe trip or hike or (my preference) 3-day concert!
