After a whopping 5 1/2 inches of rain on Saturday, we're just starting to dry out here.  My boss, who's about 45 minutes north of me, had 1/4 of an inch.  insane!

Judd made it back from Colombia okay, but suffering bad luck on nearly every flight.  He had great time in Bogota and Popayan -- so much so that I'm really regretting not going.  He has some amazing pics with our little p&s digital which make me salivate with the possibilities of taking my new camera.... I'll try and post a few later.

His officemate's family currently lives in Bogota, and her mother is from Popayan, so they had a great guide. In Bogota, they went to the Museum of Gold (no trinkets from there, unfortunately), an amazing sounding Cathedral of the Salt and attached Salt Mine (which, unfortunatly, had a massive explosion 3 days after they were there, killing about 20 miners and 3 tourists!) His meeting/workshop was in Popayan, and they ended the week with a behind-the-scenes tour of a coffee co-op, which sounded SO cool.  I scored with a very cool 'native looking' spiral bracelet made of reeds and a  beautiful creme wool cape/poncho that will look fav with tan pants and high heeled boots.  Oho, and food.  TONS of yummy homemade/local specialities.  Empanadas, some sweetened condensed milk/caramel stuff, tasty cookies, the Colombian Ouzo/Patsis/Sambuca (which is wasted on me, as I HATE liquorise) etc.  A little coffee, but all of the good stuff is exported.

Sunday was a little yardwork (SO bloody hot that I could only manage about 90 minutes before heading in and  taking a cool shower), unpacking, and planning the trip to El Paso for nephew's Christening.  I think we've decided on 15/16 October and will have to fly out either on Fri night or Sat early AM and back again on either Sunday night or Monday early AM.  I really dont want to go, but being as they won't do it without us, there's no way of getting around it.  I'm pissed that the weekend before (um, our anniversay, but also a 3 day weekend) won't work because her parents aren't willing to reschedule/cancel a monthly 'traveling dinner' that they  have that weekend with the neighbors  What-EVAH.  At least I can hope to get some good Mexican food!

Judd's birthday dinner is tonight (actual birthday was Friday), and I'm pissed again about that, as I invited 10 people to dinner w/ us a week ago, and while 8 could initially come, 4 of those backed out yesterday/today.  Oho well, less of a hassle when it comes time for the bill!

He seemed quite happy with the Sirius Radio & Boombox that I got him (as he did ask for it) and the funny 'bad dog' glasses which oho-so-accurately depict our dog!

Sounds like Judd had a fun trip with a little work thrown it too. Lots of cool presents for you too.

A town about 15 minutes from us got 8 inches of rain in 25 minutes yesterday!!! The flooding was terrible and many in the town were evacuated. No flooding at our house but the lightning was incredible and scary.

Glad your hubby arrived home safely and brought ya some goodies!

I know you probably wrote about this, but what type of digital camera did you settle on? We are on the hunt for a new one.
