During today's 6:00am Sammy walk (and we do NOT powerwalk...a nice stroll, but no speediness), I noticed I was already sweating from the 78* temps with 90* humidity.....ooho joy!

Friday's dinner w/ friends over was great - I love them to death, baby Cameron is the cutest, and Sammy not only behaved himself, but actually entertained Cameron!  He's lick her foot, she'd giggle and feed him a Cheerio and pat his nose, and the cycle would repeat ....**heart melts**   They left around 8:30, and both Judd and I passed out on the couch until about midnight. Doh!

Saturday was a bit of yardwork - mowing, getting about 1/4 of the brush cleared from under the big pine trees (Judd cut the bottom 5 feet of branches off, and we're going to mulch under there), then We Bowled.  Bowling was fun, and noteworthy because of the 3 games we bowled, I broke 120 both times.  (Usually, I'm around 80....)  I actually was the big winner the last game, with my big 129 beating all 6 others!  whoo hoo!

Sunday was grocery shopping, and prepping Massive Amounts of food to freeze & take to grandma Tonight I'm going to make up some chicken white bean chili and mix up some cookies.  The good thing about this is that I'm freezing half of everything for us, so dinner time will be easier on occassion!  The grocery store had Boston Market tv dinners on sale, so picked up a few of those, too.   Oddly, none have veggies, so I'll be bagging some greenery to go with.   With the exception of salads, I think she'll be set for dinner for a while

Mama's food & servings
done:
4 beef casserole w/ cheese, spag sauce, pasta & sour creme;   (need to bag veggies - peas?)
4 stuffed twice baked potatoes w/ ham  (need to get can or 2 of tomato soup to complement)
2+ tortollini w/ sundried tomato sauce (salad)
1 Boston Market meatloaf (needs veg - brocc?  peas?)
2 Boston market lasenga (salad)
2 Boston Market Turkey & potatoes (needs veg - beans?)
2? Freshetta Cheese pizza (small)
cheesecake (frozen from Sams)

to assemble
4-5 corn & chicken stuffed red peppers (w/ broccoli?)
2 Cumin seared Salmon (green beans and rice)
12 apple and creme cheese snack  "sandwiches"

to make:
4+ Chicken & white bean chili
sugar cookies

Finally uploaded a few cool pics from Arlington - we're inspecting the Tomb of the Unknowns to see if the big crack is beyond repair and thus will cause the replacement of the block.   Getting this close to the Tomb was a first for me -- we only had about 2 minutes to look (if we need to look longer, we need to go before 7:00am or after 7:30p)  Check out the thousands of schoolkids who are pissed off that guard isn't marching (he stands in a sheltered area for 3 minutes when we're inspecting during visiting hours) The last picture shows a group of Marines getting ready for a 18? gun salute standing in front of a massive Excevator - the area behind them is being cleared for new burial space. Its just odd to see the construction + ceremony side by side there...

Also, watched Closer (w/ Julia Roberts, Jude Law, etc)  last night -- anyone who's seen this, are you SUPPOSE to connect with/feel bad for any of those characters?

Humid weather sucks. I hate feeling like I'm swimming around when I'm outside.

Your bowling scores are like mine. My goal is to break 100. Maybe if I went more often I'd be better at it. :P

I really like that second picture you posted. Lots of "layers".

Hee, you get used to it though! We live in 80% humidity (though almost always in the 70s with a nice breeze) and when we visit the mainland in a few weeks, we're already anticipating how ICKY-DRY it's going to feel! We're taking lots of lotion and conditioner.. I can bet that when we get there, we'll dry up and crack like... um.. okay, I can't think of anything that dries and cracks. You get it. :)

What a good grandaughter you are!

How neat that you get to examine monuments like that. Do you say "hey cool" in your head, or are you over that sort of thing by now?

I didn't feel bad for the characters - more awe that anyone could be that way. They are all so self-absorbed!

ooho, I definately step back and say 'how cool' when doing ANC stuff - between the Tomb and the work on the Kennedy gravesite (including going in the 'bunker' where the eternal flame is light) Def fun to whip out at parties and dull moments!

That's so nice of you to cook for your grandma. :)

I couldn't feel bad or relate to any of the characters on Closer!! Help me win a bet with my husband. I picked the movie because the previews looked intriguing. Didn't they look intriguing (sp?)? The actual movie itself was really nothing like the previews.

Hey, I'm cooking for me, too, so no sainthood :P

I don't remember the previews for Closer that much, but thought it would be more focused on the photographer falling in love w/ her subject rather than a weird love-square. It did feel very 'staged' (as in made for the stage), which isn't a criticism, but it just seemed that no actions or words were meaningless. I liked the parallellism between Nat Portman's "Hey Stranger" at the beginning to the photo show being called 'strangers'.

Wow you've been cooking up a storm for your grandma. I'm sure she's going to love you for it.

I really enjoyed Closer. I think I felt they were all just so messed up. I didn't relly feel bad for them as far as what happened to them during the movie but more felt bad for them being the way they are. Did that make any sense? I know I liked Natalie Portman's character the best.
