turning japanese.....
May. 12th, 2005 05:32 pmWe've been slowly redoing all of the planting beds around the house....
the biggest task was converting this into this ("after" pic was last fall, before the bulbs popped up)
Now, I'm focusing on the side of the house in the backyard, where currently there's a half-dead boxwood and a cheap plastic birdbath. It up on the edge of the porch and gets a little morning sun. I'd like some shrubs & perennials, many w/ year-long interest (i.e. odd seed pods, etc) and maintain a water feature, even if its the birdbath.
Somehow, this has grown into design of a Japanese Garden. I've got a headfull of ideas and every book on Japanese Garden Planning on hold through inter library loan. Red Japanese Maples, some hostas, some helleborus, some ridiculously expensive stone fountains that still can be birdbaths...

Date: 2005-05-13 02:56 pm (UTC)I was trying to post pictures of our local Japanese garden for you, but the bums don't have more than one picture online. Its a gorgeous place - my brother and FSIL are having their wedding photos taken on the grounds.
