Why I'm glad I'm not planning a wedding.
Oct. 4th, 2004 03:12 pmIn reminiscing over the weekend on Where We Were 2 years ago, I can happily say that I hope (for more reasons that one) that I'll never have to plan another wedding again. Worrying about rain, deposits on a tent, families meeting at the airport to share a cab, etc. NO thank you!
And also after hearing the gripes and tales of woe from a co-worker about her mother pulling out the guest list from her brother's wedding in 1987 for use as the "starter list", I cannot express how much I LOVE my parents and inlaws for telling us "invite who you want to....it's YOUR wedding!" and thus we wound up with 80 close friends and family, and none of the business partners and 3rd cousins that usually propogate weddings.
It is rather satisfying to hear that even she, who drives a convertable lexus and previously would say things like "no expense spared!" has had major sticker shock when she started looking at prices for a reception.

Date: 2004-10-04 07:25 pm (UTC)To be honest, I am not chatting about planning to my newly engaged friend, esp as she's in the earliest stages and very impressionable (in a good way!), not buying ONE bridal mag!
