I was apparantly the last to know......
Jan. 11th, 2005 11:29 amSo yesterday afternoon, I hear that Brad and Jen have called it quits. I apparantly had successfully coocooned myself from the news over the weekend, and, like most people, are a little sad about it. For me, it's a personal sad........I remember seeing them on the balcony at the 9:30 club in DC, where I've spent countless hours loosing brain cells, after the freakish Lightening Storm From Hell canceled the 1st day of the Tibetian Freedom Concert in RFK Stadium. I was at the concert w/ music biz friends from London, LA and NYC, and thanks to a mass of phone calls, we heard that there was a secret show at the 9:30 featuring the cancelled bands. We didn't realize that EVERYONE knew about the secret show, and instead went to the old Black Cat just to catch Bran Van 3000 perform "Drinking in LA"......(we did have a not-so-rare sighting of Dave Grohl, in his roll of Black Cat co-owner), then headed up to the 9:30 club, only to have the Big Boucer Josh turn everyone away, saying that the club was full & go home. My status as a 'regular' did nothing, thus we had to rely on industry people....
Some cool girl from Capitol Records handed me her laminate badge to get me in, as the club was probably 3x over capacity. I remember being drunk/hung over from drinking since noon, hot, sweaty, wet, and nearly claustrophobic as I squeezed into the club. The reward was the coolest show ever -- I kind of remember Pulp, but the big goosebump moment was Radiohead, and, specifically, when Michael Stipe dueted Lucky w/ them. (if anyone can find an mp3 of this, lemme know) I remember looking up at the balcony to see if any of the Beastie Boys were to be seen, and instead saw this:

The next Monday, the news was everywhere that the two were together.........
On a side note, while I respect her decision to not want to have kids now, I really don't understand her logic. If CZJ and Julia Roberts could do it, why not Jen?? I doubt she'll ever be anything other than a novelty in a film, ala the horrible Along Came Polly. Learn from Brad......be picky about your roles!!
