spending whole week out of office - driving down to DC/Arlington every.frickin.day this week AND staying up late working once Ben goes to bed. I'm basically taking tomorrow off, and building up vaca time, but still........sux.
~National Geographic has just released the Arlington Book, Where Valor Rests. ( I found it at Costco for $18). I helped w/ some of the background construction info on it, but nothing that I submitted was used. Regardless, a fantastic book, and yall can see where I spend 2/5 days! (its a major expansion on this month's article in NG) I've been doing work there (master planning and design/construction management) for 6 years, and the book still stopped me cold on some photos. The photos, and frankly, the cemetery itself, is so removed from Democrats and Republicans, bills to stop the war and bills to keep funding the troops............its just grief and honor and precision thats almost scary. I learned yesterday that one of the soldiers who was found in the river in Iraq will be coming to Arlington. I hate hate HATE being there when there's a 'big' one. Seeing the young families, seeing the deceased's fellow soldiers, many of whom are amputees, really drives it home that something has to be done to get our people out of there....
~Ben's last nurse was Monday. Tues I left before he woke and today he slept late. I don't think he's enjoying not getting warm cuddly milk time first thing, but we made it past the 13 month mark, and I'm ready to stop......Not a drop of formula! Hooooray for Boobs!
~ordered a few pairs of shoes from Piperlime tonight for Ben -- See Kai Run sneakers and Pedipeds sandals. Will send at least one back, but the days of Robeez knock offs are over. (btw, 20% off piperlime : PN7NRRZ2BPWC)
~I've been drooling over the recipe for Clafoutis in the latest Williams Sonoma catalogue.........so on my way home, picked up a cherry pitter (that Oxo one is great!), 2 lb of cherries, and a pint of Ben and Jerry's pistachio ice cream..........and yeah, it was yummy, even if I overcooked it a few minutes.
Urgh, its 11. I should log off and get to bed.

Date: 2007-06-01 02:25 am (UTC)Ben has been especially grumpy in the mornings with me. I basically have to have a cup of milk on the ready when he wakes up just to buy enough time to change a diaper.

Date: 2007-06-01 02:23 am (UTC)As for piperlime, haven't gotten the shoes yet, but decent prices, 20% off and free shipping and returns? can't go wrong there. I still refer to Zappos for the reviews
