Three examples of why I fear for humanity
1) occasionally, there's an email that goes out to everyone in my 30,000 person organization. 99.9% of the time its some new policy that you don't even read and delete. Yesterday, someone replied to all saying "please let me know how this policy is important to ME!" and the bandwagon started. There's been at least 50 people hitting reply to all saying "take me off this list"......then smart asses saying "hey everyone! stop sending reply to all messages!!" My blackberry sounds like a beehive. (and I've gotten 12 20 25 in the last 5 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!) I DO take great pleasure in allowing people to recall the message (and thus getting hit with gobs in their boxes) AND sending read-receipts to everyone.
2) a coworker handed out an email that lays out the reason why the VT shooting (and ALL school shootings the past 10 years)occurred was because there's no prayer in school. *thunk*
3) another coworker who's daughter is a Sophomore in college at Maryland who's having roommate squabbles. the PARENT is intervening because her daughter is 'busy' and 'doenst' like confrontation'. The girl is going to be hopeless. College isn't about exams and books and papers......its about learning to LIVE on your own and handle all your issues for yourself.

3. Hey, as long as she can work for her daddy, she'll be fine!

Praying - you know it solves everything.
I agree that college is just as much (and in some cases more) about living on your own and becoming an adult than it is about higher education. Maybe the student and parent should pray to make the conflict go away.
