~Brought Ben into work for the afternoon yesterday (it was bring you kid to work day, after all!) I brought him in the stroller and carried him in the sling on my hip, which is something that I haven't done in ages.  He fit perfectly in there, and the bright green sling looked nice with my shirt(:P) He was awesome - we visited a few coworkers for a little while, then I plopped him down on a blanket with a bucket of cheerios, cup of water and some toys. He entertained himself for about 90 minutes.    I miss my little coworker today :(

~Judd has his wisdom teeth out on Wed.  He's doing about a billion times better than I did 15 years ago, but all of mine we impacted and none of his were.  Last night, Ben at more 'solid' food than Judd did.  ha!

~I don't usually get sentimental or happy about the news these days, but the story about Stephen Hawking riding the vomit comet is a great story.  Why hadn't he done this before??

~there was a story on the news (yesterday's Today show?) about the reemergence of Wet Nurses.  Some women pay $1k a week for someone else to nurse their kid!  I'm super pro-bf, but if I couldn't for some reason, my kid would be getting formula. I MIGHT investigate a milk bank, and could maybe fathom having a trusted friend/family who was currently BF feed him on an emergency basis, but regularly?  uh no.

~in a similar vein, was watching Planet Earth / Shallow Seas and learned that a 1 year old Blue Whale drinks 137 gallons of milk a day.  WOAH!

~I finally got my work desktop computer converted to a laptop/workstation.  I've got a Dell Latitude D260, which works just fine, but the screen sucks.  I've been REALLY spoiled with my Mac....   It IS nice to be able to connect wirelessly at home, though, but the whole touchpad/eraser curser thing sucks.  Again, Apple's seems so much easier to use.

I'd love to have a bring-your-kid-to-work day, but with our group care kids, it's pretty much never going to happen. Bummer!

Can you get a wireless mouse for your laptop? That's what I have - I've never liked the touchpad things on any of the three laptops I've owned.

Ben is technically too young to participate in the program (here, its targeted to 8-14 yr olds), but I say screw 'em! A baby is more interactive than most 13 year olds, right??

I don't think I can use a wireless mouse (Fed Govt is anti wireless anything for some reason), but I'm going to keep the wired mouse at home and see if that helps. Now, I just need a clip on mousepad to fully embrace Couch Surfing :P

In a similar vein on that wet nurse thing, I can't really imagine nursing anyone other than my own son. I like my friends' babies, but I wouldn't want to nurse them.

absolutely.....again, if it were an emergency situation, I'd do it in a heartbeat, but being a Boob for Hire? Eh, no thanks

maybe i'm just not crunchy enough, but we discussed this in our bf'ing class, and the thought of someone else bf'ing my kid ... even a close friend or family member, really skeeves me out. i know it's best, and i fully intend to bf as long as i feel comfortable with it, but i wouldn't hesitate to use formula if i had tried all avenues of doing it myself.

so ... did you get any pictures of the little man at work? ;)

knowing how Ben eats everything, I wouldn't blink at formula noww, but I remember how freaked out/worried I he had something *other* than b milk. (and that was tylenol!!)

I think it was the only instance of this....even this morning, he couldn't sit still for 5 minutes when I made his breakfast.

I'd also say that a good 30 minutes yesterday were occupied by pulling himself up on an old CPU, bring his cup with him, drop the cup, say 'uh oh', and bend over like an old man to pick it up. Repeat 20x. I wish I had my videocamera :)
