tv wrapup!
Oct. 20th, 2006 09:40 amI've been slow catching up with TV off of the DVR (and we're about to cancel our Cable in exchange for Directv again...anyone out there have one of the HD DVRs from them? Does it work okay?
A few couch potatoey notes....
Project Runway -- This was the first season that I watched from start to finish as it was aired. (love!!) Judd can't stand Tim Gunn, so refuses to watch it with me. Love the finale. Love Jeffery. Hell, love all the finalists in their own way. But Jeffery's clothing makes me wish I was 28, had unlimited funds and a more interesting social life than work/baby errands/passing out at night :P
Lost: Just saw the Locke/Sweatlodge episode. I smell a shark getting ready to be jumped.....I HATE it when they do the piece the recent past back together over 3 episodes thing. I have a feeling that we're going to have one week be Sawyer/Jack/Kate, the next week Sayid/Jin/Sun, the next Locke/Hurley/Eko/Charlie/Claire. Nice to see Boone back for a few seconds, though! Missed ya, Ian Sommenther (sp)!
Dexter (on Showtime) New show this year, and absolutely hooked after 1 episode. AMAZING character development. Dexter, (played by Michael C Hall, aka David Fisher from Six Feet Under) is a Forensics expert in Blood splattering for the Miami PD who just so happens to be a serial killer. BUT wait - the catch is he's kind of Batman like - going after the bad guys. Smart, funny, matter-of-fact, shocking, and nice balance of 'season long story' with episodic mysteries/stories wrapped up each show. Can't say how much I love this show enough.
30 Rock - only seen the first episode thus far, but entertained. Mildly concerned about how much product placement they're going to have in it, and how long they can get away with the vague disguizing of celebs...
Veronica Mars - yay! After this week's episode, seems as if they're back on track and have a relatively simple storyline set for this year. I was getting worried early on. New characters aren't THAT annoying, except for Wallace's roomate, Piz, who I fear may be a new love interest for V. Eeek.
The Nine - meh. Watched the first 3 episodes and that's it for me. Taking wayyyyyy too long to tell the story. Basically, I don't care about any of these people. How do they plan on carrying this out for next season, if it still exists?

Date: 2006-10-20 03:37 pm (UTC)Ha - I was just explaining to my husband what "jumping the shark" means the other night. I hope Lost isn't going downhill. I thought the same thing though - that they are going to go back & forth w/ the stories.

Date: 2006-10-20 03:39 pm (UTC)which, unfortunately, also is usually the kiss of death for network comedies these days. We stupid Americans can't decide what's funny for ourselves.

Date: 2006-10-20 05:21 pm (UTC)Maybe it would have made a better movie - cut down the number of people, then spend 20 minutes on each of their stories.... OR a cable series with each person focused on...each season a different situation.
