1. By boss informed me that he's submitted me for the Good Housekeeping's Women in Government Award. I'm flattered, speechless, and feel like an ass for being a slacker for the past few weeks. I doubt anything will happen on it, based on the typical winners
2. I've been a cooking fool the past few days. Not so much for dinners, but for appitizers, snacks and treats. Last night's experiments were 1 for 2. I tried making the Spicy Pecans that I raved about the other week and they didn't turn out so hot. Why? Well, because I didn't whip the eggwhites enough and I tried to get all atkins-friendly and use Splenda. WRONG. I love spenda, but there's certain things that it works well in, and other that it definately does NOT work with. Ah, glad I bought a huge bag of Pecans, as I'll be making another batch tonight to mail to my brother. Other snack of the night were Brie and Raspberry Bites (can't find the recipe), but it is essentially soft white bread with the crusts cut off, rolled flat and cut into 1 1/2" circles, smushed into a mini-muffin pan, sprayed with butter, baked for a few minutes. Pull out and place on cookie sheet with a small-ish piece of trimmed brie and a 1/4 teaspoon of rasperry jam. Bake until melted. YUMMMMYY! Tonight's endeavors include a Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie to mail to my brother as a belated birthday cake/treat/gift.
3. Since food makes me think of Thanksgiving, our plans are firming up. We're staying at home until Saturday, then we'll go down to my parent's house until Tuesday. Judd's got a meeting near them & it just makes sense to go down later so he doesn't have to chriscross his way up and down the I-95 twice in 2 days. He'll probably just catch a ride back up to B'more with a co-worker at the end of the week, but that means he's going to be gone on my birthday (WHAHHHH!!!) Anyway, we'll be doing the Turkey thing on Saturday, so instead we'll just do a roasted chicken with stuffing & a veggie. And maybe Creme Brulee......
4. I saw this on an ebay auction as a "act now you get this free sticker". What is the dark blob suppose to be? If that's suppose to be the south-east corner of the country, somone needs to go back to Geography Class. It kind of looks like China.....a tiny bit...
