*insert trumpets*

hopefully, this will allow us to drive by electronics stores w/o stopping in to a) see if the new one's in, and b) annoy the salespeople with tons of questions.

NOW for figuring out about getting HD service. Suffer with our crappy cable (who, btw, won't return our calls) or invest more cash (well, initially) and get Voom , HD satellite. This will require LOADS more research of Directv vs. Voom. yayyyyy.

Emmy Randomness:

-What kind of downers was Gary Shandling on?
-Didn't see any HORRID clothing, but missed most of the pre-show coverage. Cynthia Nixon's hair & dress style was nice, but the color was baby-poop.
-to echo Chris Rock, "Who the hell is Elane Strich??"
-Why didn't Al Pachino get the 'your time is up' music??!
-Seems that the men of Hollywood have discovered Mystic Tanning, with the exception of the sickly looking David Hyde Pierce. Lots of orangy men. Guys -- ONE session looks best. ONE.
-Arrested Development -- never seen it, but wish that I had.
-Yayyy for Sopranos for beating out West Wing.

Ian Brown comes to America

Oho, I've waited YEARS to hearIan Brown mumble live. I can only hope he makes it to DC. Can't find what the setlist was, but I've liked his solo stuff well enough, so I'll be happy...and i guess enough whisky can make his slurring understandable...

otherwise, weekend was filled with dinner & lots of wine & a couple of mad games of Cranium at friends' house (gotta love 5 bottles for 4 people. whew!) a bit of yardwork, and football. nice fall weekend, it was.

"Who the hell is Elaine Strich??"

Allow the theatre geek to field this one!

Elaine Strich is a broadway icon actress who is known for her tough as nails attitude. She was in the original casts of such famous shows as Bus Stop, and Company, and has made a name for herself on the stage for over 50 years.

"At Liberty is her candid one-woman musical memoir. The show chronicles her notorious private life, which included a long bout with the bottle to curb her stage fright, plus adds a fair share of Hollywood gossip, and is all neatly packaged with her razor wit and show-stopping songs."

I saw it on HBO...it's really quite good!

Thanks, darling! I figured that she was a Carol Channing type that did a lot of Broadway. I usually count on the Kennedy Center Awards to help me know the older icons...

She def. looked like a character!
