Chair gripe

Okay, I JUST ordered my dining room chairs from the same store we got the table and china cabinet from.  Small, nice local store.  Free shipping, no problems at all with the store.

For shits and giggles, checked online for a pic of them.  And, naturally, found them for about 20% less, including shipping.  Its like getting a chair for free

So what do I do?  I left a 50% deposit at the store. 

call 'em and make something up?  Be honest with them?

i would most definitely call them up and be honest with them. they'll either match the other retailer or you can take your business elsewhere! done and done!

i know it's not the way that a lot of people look at situations like this, but i'd approach them and see about getting them talked down a little but not down fully. mom & pop stores are going out of business because of the internet simply because there is no way they get as good of deals from the dealers they buy from as online/chain stores do. they just can't buy enough product to get volume discounts. :( anyways, i'd go to them and tell them you would really like to support them and ask if they could discount your order 10 or 15%. that's just me, though.

you've hit my dilemma right on the head.

I LIKE this store. I don't want to screw them. I'd just like a little discount or something! If this was Ikea or Crate and Barrel, I would have no hesitation at all

I'd call and be honest. They'll either lower their price or they won't.
