advice on craigslisting........
Nov. 30th, 2005 12:53 pmI listed our old living room rug on craigslist.
The 1st emailer wants to meet be "after her sons carate" [sic]
ooh.....this will be interesting!!!!
What's the protocol on giving out #'s and addresses for people buying stuff you may have listed? In theory, its no worse than listing it in the paper, but I'm a bit ooked out....

Date: 2005-11-30 08:35 pm (UTC)don't ever write stuff that flaunts the new stuff you bought to replace the old stuff because i think some people look for that and then try to figure out where you live so they can rob you. at least that's just what i go by. like, "i got this awesome flat panel 56" television so i no longer need this old 20" tv/vcr or whatever. but i KNOW you already know that. :)
phone numbers in ads can be awesome because some people want to buy it straight away and as long as you can answer your phone, i'd list the number.
be aware though that there is A LOT of flaking out on craigslist. i have been on the receiving end plenty of times and even the flaking end a couple but i always let the person know that i had to bow out but a lot of people don't, so be prepared for that.

when i posted a mattress for sale i did it on cl and i believe yahoo. at yahoo i got a lot of scam email, you know the kind. i wire you money, you take some of it and put it here then you shove it up your butt and turn around.
it's amazing that ppl fall for that stuff.
good luck and if she sucks, give her a nice carate chop!
