So I've been wanting an iphone since...they came out.

Judd wanted to wait until the memory went up, as his email is a space hog (he's run his work email thru MacMail, as he does at home).

So yesterday, they announced the 16G iphone

and the fact that later this year the AT&T will expand their 3G network (dont know what that really means, but its supposedly better.faster.cheaper kind of thing) and Jobs says the next Gen Iphone will be 3G

which means we're waiting
again

unless I just convert now and Judd gets a cheap AT&T phone (we're verizon family plan now), and upgrades once the Iphones come out...but then probably wait again, because I'm sure that the 4th Gen Iphones will have the ability to video chat on them.....

You will always be waiting.... {evil grin}

My Dad has dibs on mine whenever I upgrade. :p I'm sure you could figure out a hierarchy of trading up. Plus the memory thing isn't really an issue for email b/c it syncs to folders as you look to see more emails. They aren't actually store on your iPhone, but still on the server. Does that make sense?

i dont know what his deal is w/ the email....he has to use macmail to tie into his work network and says it acts differently, but whatever...

and I told him you'll ALWAYS be waiting for it to be 'perfect'!

I don't even like cell phones, but I actually want an iPhone. Heh. We'll probably get cell phones next year after we move, and we'll definitely be looking at the iPhone.

its is like crack, isn't it?
I dont really like cell phones either (and never EVER sent a txt message), but do like the idea of my work-issued blackberry. so yeah, I'll be one of those people with TWO smartphones. obnoxious, i know!

Jeff's got the iPod Touch and that's what made me decide I'd like the iPhone once we get cell phones. I love being able to check the internet from the iPod. We'll need to do a crash-course on cell phones, because I have never paid any attention to them at all. But I do predict that within the year I'll have one of some kind.

I just got an iPhone and I LOOOOOOOVVVVEEEEE it. I have over 1000 photos on it, all sorts of music and such and I have it synched to show my most recent 50 emails. As spa_girl stated above, it just synchs with the last (10/15/25/50) emails, however, all the rest are still stored on your server (or wherever else you are having them actually downloaded to). I still have WAY more than enough room on the drive for more stuff. And that is the "little" 8G phone.

Anyway, after finally getting mine and using it I say just go for it! The phone itself is incredible and actually does everything it is advertised to do and it is the most user-friendly phone I have owned. The other thing I have found is that the family calling plans with AT&T are a great deal (though I was not on the family plan with Verizon). Switching from V's call/data plan over to joining my boyfriend on his family plan is saving me almost $75 a month (I use a lot of minutes for work).

OK enough rambling on...do it! Do it! There will always be someone you can sell your old on to when the time comes to upgrade. ;)

I'm not even really sure what his real issue w/ email is, other than its not mac mail he's syncing with.

I'm so going to drag him to the apple store this weekend and look into the AT&T plans. Does your BF have an iphone or just AT&T? If so, that's the famly plan that we're looking to do...

Yes, Neil had the iPhone first so I got to play with it a lot (even though I wanted one before he ever got his). I really can't get over how easy they are to use. I don't know the full details of his ATT plan, but I think it is something like $20 a month for the data on each phone and then however many minutes we are sharing (we both use our phones as our only personal/home phones along with it being my only work number). I beleive there is something 200 shared SMS messages thrown in there too, but we never use that many. Mostly I just shoot him one to let him know I made it safely to wherever I was traveling to. Have fun "looking" this weekend! :)

How annoying to have to keep waiting! Of course, if you wait for the next upgrade, you'll never end up with one ever! I say just get it!

yeah, I"m sick of waiting. I"m going to get him to an apple store this weekend, and think I'm going to get mine now. If he wants to wait, then he can wait :P

We have a family plan w/ verizon, so will switch to AT&T together

I'm right there with you (with the waiting). However, I can't take the leap until Apple gets the iPhone to sync up with Microsoft Outlook Tasks. :/
