Haven't posted about nursing/pumping in a while, but that's because things are going well

--After my January supply dip, pumping has been fine.  I quit taking Fenugreek capsules a while ago don't usually drink the tea anymore, and have run out of the Lactation Boosting Cookies (but will make more of those - Yum!).  I def. notice a boost about an hour after eating the cookies, but didn't notice much change w/ the tea or fenugreek tablets.

--During work days, have been pumping  mid morning, (10:30),  early afternoon (2:30), and pre bedtime (10:30-11:00), each resulting in 3-4 oz each.   During those days, I nurse him in the early morning, before dinner, and if he wakes at night.  Weekends I'm nursing him about 4-5 times a day.

--About a month ago, I dropped a bottle for Ben and am only sending in 2 bottles (5 oz) into daycare.  This is probably the biggest reason that things are going well....I'm pumping exactly what I need to send, so ZERO stress on my part.  He's eating solids like a champ, and I'm able to get a ton of cheese, beans, whole grains, etc into him.  The kid is an eating machine!

--Based on needing 10-12 oz a days (bottles + adding to oatmeal in the morning), I'm going to shift my pumping session around next week and just do a mid-day  & bedtime, so during the work week, I'll be nursing or pumping every 6 hours.  I'll still keep the pre-bedtime session for a while, then drop that, leaving the mid-day as my last pumping.  I think.  or maybe I'll drop the mid day.  I dunno.

--I need to count out my freezer stash this weekend to determine when I'll stop pumping for production.  Ben is 7 weeks shy of being a year (OMG OMG O M G!!), which is when I'm going to start to introduce whole milk.  (Seeing how he eats everything in sight and chuggs water like a fratboy consumes beer, no worries on him taking to it).

--I'm going to continue nursing him in the early morning and before dinner for a while....the early morning boob will be the last one I drop I think, and don't think that will happen until 15 months or so.  Kind of making that one be a Ben-determined weaning.

Overall, I'm pretty proud of myself for lasting a year.  There were some tough times pumping, but overall it was easier than I thought.  (Still don't know how exclusive pumpers do it, though!!)  Nursing is SO much more convienent that I thought.   I'm so completely comfortable with NIPing that it amazes me..I'm more concerned about finding a quiet place so Ben can focus rather than finding a quiet place so I won't bother anyone.

Go Team Boob!

That's awesome! I'm impressed that you were able to keep the night pumping session and keep from going insane - I couldn't do it. You should be very proud of yourself.

thanks! The night pumping is actually one of the easiest ones -- I'll shower, pump, then go to bed...just another part of my evening routine :)

Awesome! How is it that Ben is almost a year old?! How on earth did that happen? I think after the year mark and you can introduce cow's milk, the stress on you definitely goes down.

thanks! I bet you could alter the cookies w/ doing an egg substitute (oil + baking powder combo?) and soy butters. I know there's 'safe' chocolate chips, or you could just use raisins.

(he has milk protein and egg allergies, right? Or does he have wheat, too?)

sadly, he's also allergic to wheat. but i haven't cut that out of my diet b/c the allergist was okay with me having it (since without it, i'm left with fruits and vegetables!)
