Quick quiz, boys and girls:

why does every decent resteraunt in midtown Baltimore closed for a private party on Thursday?

a) the Washington Monument is being light and everyone parties that night
b) the world is against me on my birthday.
c) baltimore is a crappy town that can't diversify
d) All of the above!

Answer? d!

*sigh* well, it's now either Soigne which has a new chef pushing more sushi and asian-inspired entrees, or Charleston. I'm leaning towards Soigne due to the fact that I've had a lot of grits recently....

Sorry your b-day choices were limited.

What did you ever do about your friend's b-day that was to be held at that uber-expensive place??

funny story about the uber expensive place....they had NO idea what it cost. I casually mentioned it, and he spit out his coffee, yelling "There's NO WAY that we're spending more on dinner than we did on our ENTIRE DINING ROOM FURNITURE!!" (yes, they're notoriously cheap, which is why the whole thing didn't make sense!)

HA! I love it. Glad they are reasonable people afterall.

I can write for hours about how some cheap people request expensive things. I have a set of friends who are cheap (won't order soda out at a restaurant, will split bills down to the penny) who had the gall to ask for a camcorder when they were having their baby. My husband worked for Best Buy at the time and she told me directly that we could get them any kind, they weren't picky. (She was serious) I have gotten the dumbest/cheapest gifts from her for years - as IF I'd buy her a camcorder!! (Last year it was a large footlong plastic cow - WTF?!)

I'd have been tempted to reply to the Camcorder people that you could secure an employee discount on one for them, then leave it at that!

Its one thing to split pennies if money is tight, but it drives me nuts when people have more than enough to live comfortably and STILL don't enjoy themselves occasionally. Why deny yourself something for years (like a new coffee table, new dishes, etc) and then end up getting the next-to-the-cheapest thing out there when you DO "splurge"??
