talking to peditricians and day care people is HELL.  ABSOLUTE hell.

This morning's ped visit was a stellar one -- I was waiting for over 2 hours. Dr was okay (not the best ever, but okay) once I got there, but the fact that there's no set 'sick call' time bugs me.  I really wanted a 'well kid' and 'sick kid' seperate appointment times...

Call a few more on my list, and am told that they 'don't see patients' WTF?  Apparantly, a slew that are in my insurance's website are only 'hospital doctors' and don't belong to a private practice.  So I've wasted my time for nothing whatsoever...

2 more I've been on hold with for over 15 minutes trying to schedule an appt.

2 Daycares said flat out that they don't take babies who are breastfed.  So, I'd pay $250 a week for you to give my kid formula?  Um, no.  Guess I have to pay $300 for someone else to feed my kid a bottle of pumped milk.

Add this onto a craptastic 'real work' day, and I'm all ready for a long soak in the tub. I'm not getting ANYTHING done for either baby or work today.

At least last night I got my Shamrock Shake.

In the end all of your research, hard work, interviews, and waiting will pay off. You know that you've found exactly what you're looking for or as close to it as you can get. And you can spend your time off from work with Baby W enjoying him and adjusting rather than having to do this on top of caring for a new baby.

They don't take babies who are BREASTFED?!?!? Are you kidding? I don't get it...what the hell is the difference? Actually it seems like formula would be a bigger pain for them--they have to actually prepare something before they feed him. That is the most ridiculous thing I've heard. UGH.

according to the person who answered the phone, "its a hassle because they won't want the bottle" um....if I start mixing feedings w/ a bottle of EBM (or, more accurately, have JUDD feed w/ a bottle) it shouldn't be a problem

whatEVA

oho, and most places only want the premixed formula that they can pour right into a bottle

Can you say LAZY?

I wouldn't want anyone who can't measure or stir watching my kid anyway!

damn. I guess they can afford to be picky, if they're getting enough people as it is. but still, that really pisses me off. so much for doing what's best for the kid. I guess, though, it's a good warning sign: if they only want to do what's most convenient for THEM, you don't really want your kid there anyway.

ITA. I can see the whole battle over introducing solids from a mile away.

At least I didn't waste an hour or so visiting them!!

WTF? Daycares won't take breastfed kids? That's all kinds of screwed up - I want the names of those places, seriously. That's all kind of wrong.

Sorry you're having a hard day!

see, they won't NOT take BF kids, they said that its 'a lot easier' if they're formula. Guess that keeps them off of the true blacklists....

Yeah - I'd be calling whatever regulatory agency in your state handles daycare licensing...

In fact, I'd like to anyway - just because I'm a big rabblerouser.

I wouldn't trust those people not to just feed the kid formula anyway...

Oy with the daycare BFing thing. That's just about the most smacked-ass thing I ever heard! Now, just imagine the women who call who aren't as informed about BFing and just take this chucklehead's words at face value. Nice.

I know they can be (for lack of a better word) militant about BFing, but if there's a La Leche League in your area, they may have information about daycares that are more BF friendly. Oh, and tell them your little daycare story...I'm sure they'd LOVE to hear it!

hm....that's a good idea about asking at LLL about daycares.
