Should be a pretty quiet weekend, me hopes.

Plans include shopping for next weekend's Tiki Party, v. 2.0, a little yardwork, a nice long yoga session, and refreshing ourselves on the 1st season of Lost.

  • snacks
    -edemame
    -spicy asian peanut brittle
    -coconut cashews from trader joes
    -taro chips w. mango salsa

  • appitizers/pupus
    -Grilled Tofu Satay
-Chicken Satays (vv good from last year)
-Crock Pot Kalua pork with asian slaw ([livejournal.com profile] ee_chick's recipie for the pork***
-Filo cups filled with chicken/pineapple (recipe at home)
    -tons of dumplings/potstickers (Trader Joes!)

  • Drinks!
    --wine, beer (brought by others)
--soda, water (brita on the porch was great)
    --Pina Coladas or Mai Tais.
    --LEMONADE!

    Lessons learned from last year:

--skewer foods beforehand, then dump marinade over them while skewered, as I spent way too much time skewering instead of chatting w/ people
--asian brittle was yummy, but got SO sticky & yucky after sitting in the humidity
--need different appitzers/snacks, or maybe them located in a different area.
    --portable speakers for outside  done
--ceiling fan on porch (been meaning to do this anyway) (not happening this year)
--2-3 metal trash cans w/ lids for outside (clean out/put bags in 2 outside cans)
--new landscaping lighting around pond (done)
--get some more camp chairs/ask others to bring some
--get Sammy's nails cut before -- less excited dog scratches on people!

***[livejournal.com profile] ee_chick's Kalua pork with asian slaw and
pork shoulder (around here it's usually 3 pounds or so)
    1-2 tsps liquid smoke (I use 2)
1/2-1 cup applejiuce (I use a whole cup and add the remaining juice to it once it's shredded)
Throw it all in a crockpot for 10-12 hours and shred.

Sounds like a great menu. I could eat a bucket of edamame! Hope you get all of your items crossed off. Gotta love that!
